Porting and polishing engine heads always can improve performance.  Of course, if you go too far,  you can in fact decrease flow and thus lessen your bikes output.  There is a fine balance of how much material to remove and maximize the intake and exhaust tracts. This ability to rush the intake charge into the combustion chamber and scavenge the exhaust gas out the tailpipe in the best possible fashion can be measured on a Flow Bench.  Herman and I do this on a Superflow bench.  However, Harley has made it easy for the do-it-yourself guys.  Just go to your local dealer, give them your heads, and in a few weeks you will have ported and polished heads.  HD will install oversized valves and Twin Cam heads will have ACR ports machined (if they already do not have them).  Part numbers are 16500037 for 06 and L Twin Cam,  16500075 for 07 and L Sportsters.  Check with your dealer for details.
