Harley-Davidson discontinued the TLE and RLE sidecar for the touring line a few years back. After a great 96 year run, the Motor Company decided to quit production. First time I ever was in a hack, it was like being on an amusement park ride; no control!
I heard a great story yesterday of an old Harley dealer and his rig. Seems that he bought a FLHTC with a TLE back in 1999 and used it as the shop bike for parades and such. He sold his dealership a year or so later, but kept the sidecar rig. He never rode it, but he let his grandson use it for promotional duties. The old dealer got it back a few months ago for the first time in years to take it on a ride. After a short putt, he took the rig back to his house and started doing some measurements with yardsticks and fluorescent light tubes. "This sidecar is off" he said to his grandson. "Grandpa, no one has messed with it in 14 years, but bring it into the shop and we will check. Yep. The old guy was right. After using modern measuring tools, the front camber was off 1/4 inch. Old school knowledge and experience ya just cant get in a book. You gotta ride.
